"Our Plain Duty" FDR and America's Social Security. There was a room with exhibits of people's lives before Social Security and during the Great Depression and those Americans that were excluded that was very interesting. On August 14, 1935 legislators and advisors crowded into the White House Cabinet Room to witness the signing of the Social Security Act.
