6/6/11 - Down Days

Plattsburgh RV Park is about 20 miles south of the Canadian Border. We had a really nice grassy site here and the sites were big and had good Wi-Fi (which was good since we were having problems with our dish). We are going to have a couple of down days. While riding yesterday Pat's right shoulder really started hurting more than it has and he wasn't doing anything....Richard drove yesterday. We wanted to get it checked out before going into Canada later this week, so we found a Medical Clinic and went in. Their waiting room was completely full, so 2 1/2 hours later after taking X-Rays they told Pat they thought that he probably had torn the rotator cup a little when he had the problem in AZ in April before leaving. Without doing an MRI they couldn't tell for sure. They didn't think he needed to see an orthopedic doctor at this point. Take it easy, ice it and see how it's doing in six weeks....we told the doctor it would have to be November since we won't be back in AZ until then. The next medical issue was with Addie....somehow she had torn one of the toenails on her right hind foot. The past week it has bleed a couple of times and she was licking it more and more. We found a vet right next to the RV park and they pulled the nail off, dressed it and she wore a collar for a couple of days. They said the nail should grow back. We thought the collar would drive her nuts, but she didn't seem to mind it at all....she just couldn't drink with it on...so after the first night we pretty much left it off of her while we were around and she didn't try getting the bandages off (notice her pretty pink foot). The new modem came in on Monday, so Pat worked on getting that set up, and it wasn't any better than the one we had. Don't really know what the problem was but the dish started working again. We went to a Verizon store and added the Canadian plan to our cell service for $20.00 a month. If we hadn't done that every call we made or that we received would have cost us $.45 per minute (we learned the hard way when we went through Canada on our way to Alaska in 2007)!
