6/10/11 - Sightseeing
Our first stop this morning was The Notre-Dame Basilica. It was built between 1824 and 1829. The interior is magnificent and draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. There are an additional two chapels within the Basilica. The main part of Notre-Dame seats over 3,000. The organ is housed in five different rooms. It has 4 keyboards, 99 stops and approximately 7,000 pipes. The ground floor's stained glass windows depict scenes of Montreal's social and religious history.
