8/6/07 - Soldotna back to Anchorage - 146 miles

Today we start back tracking. We are leaving the Kenai Peninsula after being here for over two weeks. This has been the rainest weather that we have had on the trip. We are headed back north and Sheppard's & Barker's are heading down to Homer for a couple of days....so now we are down to just two of us! I t was a beautiful day for driving. We decided to find a large parking lot in Anchorage and dry camp there. We are going to do some shopping while in Anchorage and get stocked up on supplies at Costco, WalMart and Fred Meyers! We drove out to Hood Lake which is where all the float planes fly out of Anchorage from....it was really a sight to see all the planes docked around the lake. They say there are over 800 flights a day in the summer from this area....it is right across the street from the main airport in Anchorage. We did some shopping at Office Max and Petco. Wildlife sightings today: None. If you want to see where we are currently at (8/13/07) go to: http://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cm?user=2430
