8/10/07 - Willow Lake to Valdez - 95 miles

We were hoping for clear skies this morning to get another look at the beautiful views out our windows but it was not to be. The fog was really heavy when we left and within about 5 miles we were out of it and the views were wonderful. There were high mountains, glaciers and waterfalls all around us going down into Valdez as well as the pipeline running along the road in places. Valdez is known mainly for the terminus of the 800 mile Trans-Alaska Pipeline and the Exxon oil spill of 1989. The city gets over 300 inches of snow annually. Wildlife sightings today: 1 Bear, 1 Eagle, Thousands of Dying Salmon. If you want to see where we are currently (8/14/07) go to: http://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cfm?user=2430
