6/7/10 - Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse

Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse was establised in 1889. For over 60 years, four generations of lighthouse keepers and their families lived at this station. Their devotion to duty helped ensure the safety of vessels in the Straits of Mackinac. The lights on the newly completed Mackinac Bridge made the lighthouse unnecessary, and it was closed in 1957.
