6/6/10 - Traverse City, MI
We arrived late on Saturday afternoon at the Northwestern Michigan Fairgrounds, which was going to be our stop for a couple of nights. We spent the next day driving around the Traverse City area. We were surprised at all the vineyards and orchards that we saw. The National Cherry Festival is held here the first part of July. Our first drive was all the way out on the "Old Mission Peninsula", which is surrounded on both sides by the East and West Arms of Grand Traverse Bay. We found this Mission Point Lighthouse. It was built in 1870.
