6/7/10 - Colonial Michilimackinac

This fort was built by the French and overtaken by the British during what is known as the French and Indian War with the British. When the Americans in the War of 1812 began threatening the British, the British moved their fort over to Mackinac Island since it would be easier to defend over there, and then burnt this fort so the Americans couldn't use it. Beginning in 1958 the re-construction of this fort has been ongoing. It is one of the oldest on-going excavations of its kind in the nation.
Archaeology dig in process while we were there.
