Cheese Lady's Gouda Cheese
We stopped at this island farm...and to quote from their brochure....they came to PEI from Holland in 1985 and started a dairy farm with Holstein cattle. In 1988, they began making Gouda cheese....hand-crafted in the Dutch tradition with milk from their herd of 65 cows, happily raised in their little paradise of PEI. Gouda cheese is known all over the world, and is named after the town of Gouda, Holland. The milk is pumped from the barn to the cheese house and they start the cheese making process at 3:30 AM.
