Green Gables
As soon as church was over we went to the Green Gables Home, which was the setting in Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic tale of fiction, Anne of Green Gables.....I sure wish I would have had the granddaughters with me! In real life, this farm was the home of David Jr. and Margaret Macneil, brother and sister, who were cousins of Montgomery's grandfather. Although Montgomery never lived at Green Gables, she grew up nearby with her grandparents. She came to know her cousins' farm through her explorations of the surrounding woodlands and places she discovered and named such as Lover's Lane and the Haunted Wood. For the kids information that have read the book and seen the DVD....the first picture is coming up from the Haunted Woods area.
