6/30/11 - Back to the North Coast Area
Pat still wasn't feeling very good this morning and Richard and Karen were going back to the North Coast area to see the things we didn't have time for yesterday...they asked if I wanted to go and I said "Sure"....not knowing it would 8 1/2 hours later when we got back! Our first stop was the Potato Museum.....PEI's most famous export is shown off here. As the cornerstone of the PEI economy for two centuries, potatoes matter on this island. The museum has the largest collection of potato-related artifacts in the world and its displays give you a new perspective on this everyday staple. One display said that the average person consumes about 125 pounds of potato's a year......I'm sure the four of us are way over that figure! There was a lot of reading here....wish they would have had more showing the actual harvesting.
