Elliston

Elliston was a thriving fishing village with a population of about 1,000 until the early 1990s, when a government-imposed moratorium put an end to a way of life that had sustained Newfoundlanders for hundred of years.....it is just one of the many villages that we saw like that. It is now know as "The Root Cellar Capital of the World" with 100 documented cellars, some dating back to the 1830's.
