The first picture is the blocks of ice that they cut out of a lake, they are about 3' x 3'. This is what they use for the sculptures. The museum has an open layout with arched cathedral ceilings and gothic architecture. Five overhead ice chandeliers with 80 carved ice crystals change color every 10 seconds to mimic the colors of the aurora borealis. Fiber optic lighting is used to create this feature. All other lighting is LED based which transmits no heat.
