The Sign Post Forest is Watson Lake's best known attraction. The forest was started in 1942 by a homesick U.S. Army G.I., Carl Lindley of Danville, IL. While working on the Alaska Highway he erected a sign here pointing the way and stating the mileage to his hometown. There are over 62,000 signs and more being added daily. We didn't have any signs made up so Jenny went and found some plastic Pepsi signs and we used the back side and all made one....not very original but at least we got our signs up.
