Santa Claus House is a North Pole landmark since 1952. In the "old days" from 1953 to 1970, any letter addressed to "North Pole" came to North Pole, AK. It wasn't unusual for the little post office to receive over 400,000 letters in a season. Now post offices have the option of getting letters and the number has dropped, but still there are thousands that find their way here. They are answered by Middle School children, senior citizens, and volunteers.
