We saw these colorful little houses on a lot in town and guess they are model homes. The only thing we could think was it was there to show where it is for the snowplows.

Eole

Eole is the tallest vertical axis windmill in the world. We were able to go inside this wind turbine...it is huge.

6/17/11 - Windmill Tour

Late yesterday afternoon we drove up to the windmill park....there wasn't anyone there, but there was a phone number listed. Karen called and we are scheduled on a tour at 9:00 today. Rene was our tour guide and you could tell he loved his job....there were only the four of us on the tour so he was able to do it all in English which was nice for us.
Cap-Chat is located at the heart of Le Nordais Windmill Park. We are going there tomorrow weather permitting.
The campground that we stayed at in Cap-Chat was right on the St. Lawrence River so Addie & Cody got to go to the beach for the first time. When the waves came in at them they didn't know what to think and backed up real quick....but they definitely liked all the smells!

6/16/11 - Cap-Chat - 109 miles

Before leaving this morning Pat ran around to 4 different places still trying to find the part for the Tahoe tail-lights to no success. We stopped and got some diesel in Rimouski @ $4.90 a gallon...UGH! We planned on stopping at Reford Gardens in Grand-Metis which are suppose to be world renowned....but because of the weather this spring and all the rain they were about three weeks from when good viewing would be. So for $14.00 per person we decided to pass. The drive along the coast was really pretty.

6/15/11 - Rimouski - 68 miles

We had a short drive today and check-out wasn't until 1:00 pm so we left the campground around 12:30, so Karen and I had a little more time to use the fast internet and work on trying to get caught up on our Blogs....not sure that is going to happen! We got settled into the campground and had to go find a Fedex facility to ship our new modem back since it wasn't working and Pat was also looking for a parts facility for something he needs to get for the Tahoe tail-lights...evidently we shorted something out when we had the problem before we got to Wyoming. We found a Bureau En Gros, which is what Staples is called in Quebec. Purolator was the carrier for FedEx up here....it all gets kinda of confusing. Anyway the clerk was real nice and helped us get the modem packaged up and billed to our FedEx account. Karen and I found a really good Atlantic Provinces map that I'm sure will come in real handy in the next few weeks. We found a Freightliner and NAPA store...Richard found an oil reserve cap he needed but Pat couldn't find our part. We drove around a little and stopped at a Retro Cafe for supper and then headed back to the RV's. This park's Wi-Fi wasn't the best even though their sign was advertising it. Pat did get our dish to work here.
We had a great view out our front window of the bay. Usually campgrounds have it stated in their rules that they give to you when you check in if you can't wash your RV, there's said nothing about it so Pat started to wash the RV and here came the lady to give him a warning that he was not suppose to wash RV's here. When he said to her that he had looked in their rules/regulations and didn't see anything about it...she just said "I'm warning you" and drove off...so he finished wiping it down with a rag.
I am loving my little Canon PowerShot SD 1400IS camera....it is so easy to use and fits in my purse great....I got these shots of the sunset with it. First of all I had to get a picture of Richard and Pat getting their sunset pictures. I wanted to try to get these dandelions in my shots.
We went over the hill tonight to see the sunset...is was really pretty.

6/14/11

We decided to stay another night here....our dish wasn't working and the park had really fast Wi-Fi. We drove around town a little and saw this Parc des Chutes area with the waterfalls. This cross had a pretty setting looking out over the St. Lawrence River.

6/13/11 - Riviere-du-Loupe - 106 miles

We are staying in a campground right on the bay....it's a pretty view. We had to do a little detour since the road into the campground was blocked off for construction...Pat made a call to the park and was able to understand the lady enough to follow her directions to get us to the park. There is a real Christmas castle right across the street from the campground that is decorated and illuminated all year...the only problem is that it doesn't open until June 24th. That seems to be the magic date up here for things opening up, that's the day the kids get out of school. The sun reflecting off the buildings in town were pretty tonight....we couldn't see the sunset because we had a hill behind us.
We took the drive around the Mont-Sainte-Anne area which is a 4-season area and registered on the World Cup ski circuit. We stopped for dinner and then headed back to the campground after a day of seeing a lot of different sights.

Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre Shrine

This shrine is located in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre.

Cyclorama de Jerusalem

This is the world's largest panorama...measuring 45 feet in height and 365 feet in circumference....the illusion gives you the impressiion of being in Jerusalem. We could not take any pictures here.

Albert Gilles Copper Art & Museum

There were beautiful pieces of art both in their store and the museum. In one area they had what they call "Christorama", which was 50 hand wrought silver panels that were each 12 x 16 telling the Life of Christ. It was done over a period of 15 years by this master craftsman...Albert Gilles.
These were a couple other pictures I got in the old town area of Quebec City. This girl was trying to get just the right angle for her pictures (I'd have never gotten up from that position let alone even getting down that far)! This wedding party was coming across the street as we drove by.
Since this is an active military garrison and cannot be visited individually, we had to go on a guided tour...out tour guide was great! The wording Je Me Souviens means "I remember" and is found on Quebec's license plates. These are just some pictures on the fort site...all the grassy areas made it really pretty.
